Security Concerns and AFC's Decision

The international development saw the Indian embassy issue a directive advising Indian citizens against traveling to Iran unless absolutely necessary. The AFC subsequently announced that Mohun Bagan had been considered withdrawn from the tournament for not turning up for the match, eliminating the club from any position in the tournament.

AFC's Statement

The AFC stated that all matches played by Mohun Bagan Super Giant would be cancelled and considered null and void, with no points and goals taken into consideration when determining the final rankings in Group A.

Mohun Bagan's Response

Mohun Bagan has expressed its intention to challenge the AFC's decision through legal means. A source from the club stated, "We had our plans ready. Our practice and preparations were done. We decided not to travel not without reason. But if and when their mail or acknowledgement comes to us, we will take the matter to court."
