The club was founded with the goal of creating a professional women's football team in Odisha, recognized as one of the key regions for women's football in India. To lead this initiative, Odisha FC appointed Randeep Baruah, an experienced football administrator, as the Head of Academy & Women’s Football. The announcement of the senior women’s team coincided with the auspicious occasion of Ratha Yatra, where the club also introduced AFC A-Licensed coach and former player, Crispin Chettri, as the team’s inaugural head coach.

Growing Popularity and Supporters

Since its inception, Odisha FC Women has rapidly gained popularity, which led to the formation of a dedicated supporters' group known as The Juggernauts. The group's name is inspired by Jagannātha, translating to "world-lord," symbolizing a powerful force that cannot be stopped. This passionate fan base reflects the club's strong connection with the local community and its mission to elevate women’s football in India.

International Alliances and Cultural Exchange

In a significant step towards international collaboration, Odisha FC Women entered a three-year technical partnership with Watford, a Premier League club. The partnership with Watford’s largest supporters' group, The 1881 Movement, initiated a cross-cultural fan exchange program, further enriching the experience for fans of both clubs.
